Lot of 2. Bank of California, RN-D imprinted revenue. Blue print, on form for Consolidated Mill, with "California" written in ink. The California Mill was a large reduction mill built in Virginia City in the mid-1870s by the Bonanza Firm-controlled Pacific Mill & Mining Company to process "Bonanza" ores from the Con. Virginia and California mines. It was located near the C&C Shaft. It had 80 stamps, 46 pans, 20 settlers, and could reduce 380 tons per day. [Ref: Ansari] 1) No. 666, issued to the Pacific Mill & Mining Co. Signed by mining millionaire John Mackay. 2) No. 732, issued to Waters & Treat. Signed by mining millionaire and US Senator James G. Fair.
