RARE! What a wonderful historical booklet and a more fabulous historical document. "W. P. Blake, New Haven, Conn." is stamped on the front and in pencil, "May copy with notes - Save." About five notations through the 31 pages. 9.5 x 6.25". Ragged, but in good condition. William Phipps Blake (1826-1910) was a very prominent geologist and mining consultant in California and the Comstock. Blake started many mining publications and the first "mining school" in the West at the College of California (which would become UC Berkley). He served as geologist with the Pacific Railroad Survey of the Far West (1853–1856). Nevada collectors should also note that Blake was called in to testify during the famous "multiple lodes" debate in the early years of the Comstock. City: State: California Date: 1866 hwac# 35641
