Lot of eight stock certificates from early California & Nevada mining ventures: 1) Eureka Quartz Mining Company, 1853, El Dorado County. Certificate #107 issued January 24th 1853 as a bearer certificate for four shares, signed James A. Shorb as President and E. H. Cornwall as Secretary. Printed by Geo. E. Leefe, New York. 2) San Antonio Mine: American Mining Company venture located in San Jose; datelined Windsor, Vermont February 1, 1853. Three vignettes, one of the earliest California mining stock certificates. Very rare. 3 & 4) two from The Yellow Aster Mining and Milling Company, 1897, signed by president John Singleton, issued for 100 shares and 8665 shares. 5) Selby Hill Mining company, San Francisco, 1877, for ten shares. 6) The South Pacific Mining Company, for one hundred shares, 1882, mining vignette. 7 & 8) Chico Gold and Silver Mining Company, Hardin district, Humboldt County, Nevada; two unissued, but one signed by John Bidwell, president.
