Large white binder of 23 antique 5 x 7 inch black and white photographs. All are presented in protective clear plastic holders in heavy white matte frames. Some have dates and location details handwritten in pencil on reverse. All are numbered, but there is no number list to reference. This album is titled: Building a Northern California Railroad, probably connecting the Sierra Valley Rail Road with the California Gold Fields. Locations include: Middle Fork the Feather River, Spring Garden Tunnel, Boca & Loyalton Railroad, Town of Chilcoot, Cal., Fillippini Valley, Beckwourth Tunnel. Photographer is unknown to us, but remarkably skilled. This is a unique photographic record of railroad construction and an incredible glimpse of a remote region of Northern California nearly impossible to reach, and therefore rarely visited or seen in photographs. If it were more accessible land the area would likely be designated a National Park. This photo album may offer some of the only photographic views extant of this very remote, untraveled area taken in that early time period. [ California
