Philadelphia and California Mining Company of Mariposa County. # 1775 for 50 shares to Theodore Walter. Signed by secretary l Alter and president Pearson Sierra. Black border on white paper 7 in. X 10 in. The center vignette is of miners working on a rock face on a hillside with log cabin and pine trees in background and a the bottom center is a dog and safe. The Philadelphia and California Mining Company was one of three mining ventures that was "hands-on" for John C. Fremont. At one time Fremont was actually the president. (Holabird 2000, p.91). Light fold upper left and small rip upper left. Otherwise in very fine condition. Many of this stocks are unissued!!!
