Large headframe wheel from the Cambridge Mine, Lyon Co., Nevada. These classic remnants of Nevada’s proud mining history are gone from the landscape now, all relics at the few existing mining or historical museums. This approximate 40” wheel has a break in the edge of the channel, possibly from falling from the headframe when it collapsed. The Cambridge had a steeply inclined shaft where this was used on and off for decades. The Cambridge Mine was located between Yerington and Pine Grove Nevada. These items come from the Rink family, who owned and operated the mine historically. The company files will be offered in a future sale. The mine was reportedly discovered in the 1860’s, and reopened in the 1930’s. It appears to be a mine without a district, thus is unreported in Couch & Carpenter or Lincoln.
