*** Water was always a problem for this 1870s Nevada mining camp. Water was originally pumped in from Dead Horse Wells miles away. Other water sources would be developed and these are remnants from the effort to get water to the mines and miners. Pieces are mostly 5 feet long, several short pieces. 4-6" diameter. Very rare and historic.
The Candelaria Water Works & Milling Company Mill was a 30-stamp mill built by the Princess Mining Co.in April 1882, but construction was halted in June that same year. The Candelaria Water Works & Milling Company completed the mill from Nov. 1885 to Mar. 1886. Just below the Mill was the Superintendent's home that overlooked Main Street in Candelaria. According to Adolph Knopf in his book THE CANDELARIA SILVER DISTRICT, NEVADA, published in 1922, "A water system was completed (in Candelaria) in 1882, which brings water from the White Mountains through a pipe line 27 miles long. The camp still benefits from this system." (1922)
