Large canvas bag, probably "sail cloth", about 19 x 41", holed and repaired throughout by jean (denim), canvas and other material patches, with large unrepaired hole through both sides near center. Rough cut top. Red or pink parallel lines or stripes down the length of the two sides. Seed residue on the inside. Plain weave. The bag is marked WC in an unusual way, with the "W" on its side, and parentheses around the WC.
Research into a potential bag maker with initials "WC" yielded only one result: W.C. Noon of Portland, Oregon, c 1877-1886, the "Pioneer Bag Maker." The Company marketed in Portland and San Francisco.
This bag, as well as all of the denim pants in this sale came out of a house in Utah in 2024. The materials were all used for insulation. The many pair of pants have had sections cut out for use as patches - some unquestionably used for pant repair, and others in construction or repair of bags used for seed storage. [] [] [] [] []
