Capital Traction Co was the smaller of 2 major street railways in Washington, D.C. in the early 20th Century. Rock Creek Railway and Washington and Georgetown Railroad Company merged in 1895 to form the new rail line. They ran streetcars from Georgetown, Capitol Hill, Chevy Chase, MD and the Armory and Mt. Pleasant. Merged in 1933 with Washington Railway and Electric Company to form the Capital Transit Company.
