Identified in the photo as No. 309. Cap't Jake, Killisnoo. LaRoche Photo, Seattle Wash. According to Mautz, La Roche was active in Seattle in 1890. Image shows Native American man dressed in an army uniform, sitting on a porch. 8 x 5" Captain Jake, also known as Saginaw Jake, was a Native American Tlingit chief. Killisnoo was located on Killisnoo Island in the Alexander Archipelago in southeastern Alaska. It was long inhabited by Tlingit people.
