A poem "To Mrs. Harry Cerrey Johnson" was written by "Captain Jack" Crawford in 1914. Captain Jack was an illiterate immigrant before being wounded twice in the Civil War, and learned to read and write while recovering from his wounds. He later scouted with the Black Hills Rangers after the Custer battle and this is where he got the Captain moniker. He pasted time away by writing poetry. (1847-1917). The second poem was written by Henry Clay Grand and is a religious themed text. With a penciled-in note at the bottom. (1832-1884). Another famous poet of the19th century. Both pieces are in excellent condition. 4.25 in. x 7.25 in. A lecture broadsheet for Captain Jack Crawford delivering "The Camp Fire and the Trail" lecture on December 30, 1897, two hours of enjoyment. There is a souvenir card with Ctpn. Jack on horseback at 2.5 in. x 4 in., and a souvenir card photo collage with a lithographic image of his signature at 4.75 in. x 7.25 in. in fair condition corner torn. [ Robert Coelln Collection
