Second edition. Only 5,000 books were printed in the first edition and 6,000 with this edition make this a rare find. The 1858 and 1859 editions are what one commonly finds. Furthermore, the pages are full of edits. They are the kind of edits that could only be done by someone close to the situation, perhaps Olive herself or a family member, close friend! The edits seem to remove the strongest, most negative emotions from the book. Omit “it had long been his [father’s] pride and boast…” or “One year had been spent by us in a condition the most abject, the most desolate, with treatment the most cruel that barbarity and hate could invent.” A quick search shows few of these edits were made. This book is in good condition. The spine and pages are tight. There is some foxing, especially at the beginning.City: County: State: AZDate:
