Only one present in this Homestake Collection. "Location of Mines: Black Hills, Dakota" (printed at bottom center). Inc. under laws of Dakota Territory. No. 223, issued for 1,000 shares to John Foster in 1886. Signed by president C.F. Thompson and secretary G.F. Frasier. Not cancelled. Black border and print, gold "$2" underprint. Times Steam Printing House, Deadwood. Horizontal fold, creases. 6.5 x 10.5" According to a March 23rd, 1886, Daily Deadwood Pioneer Times article, work had commenced on the company's property at Carbonate, which was north and an extension of the Eureka company's claims. The company's mines were the Mammoth and the Jolly Giant. Developments included numerous cuts and shafts showing small veins of argentiferous galena ores.
