These extrordinary specimens are from the Carlin Nevada Turquoise Mine. A deep rich turquoise color veined with black matrix. #9, polished, weighs 20.6 g. #10 weighs 6.4 g. Specimens found by Jerry Gray, "Rock Hound Extraordinaire" from Moundhouse (Carson City), Nevada. Carlin Mine is located in the northeast part of the state. A very small mine. This mine hasn't seen any activity in many years, except for old stashes, you won't find any of this turquoise anymore. Beautiful Clarity! The Carlin Turquoise Mine Produced a lot of very hard Turquoise in its day. A lot of this stuff is really gel type material, at least all that we have seen through our generations.. It is almost like gem silica. Carlin has a very distinct look to it. It is a really good turquoise variety to add to your collection as it is sure to look different than most the turquoise you already own.
