This brown on brown jar is highly polished, not unlike the Mexican Mata Ortiz pottery. 8" diameter x 6.75" high. Fabulous pot in excellent condition. Carlos Dunlap, Jr. (Carlos Sunrise) Jr. San Ildefonso Pueblo, was the son of Carmelita Dunlap (the niece of Maria Martinez). Carlos was born in 1958 and died from a car accident in 1981. He started potting at an early age. Carlos was considered an excellent potter and pottery painter and destined to follow in Maria's footsteps. He is known for his classic polychrome plates, his use of traditional designs on large pieces, and his creation of the Brown-on-brown ware to compliment Maria's beautiful Black on black ware.
