Rarity-7. 1861. Very good cancel, but 1/3 over the stamp. Long search may have lead to the author of this cover. Through letters from the Bancroft Library, one can find two letters from JMS to his sister Melissa Price. JMS addresses his letters the same way our author addresses his. JMS is a miner in Yreka in 1855 and 1858,. This would be an easy jump for the miner to take in 1861 to the Comstock. (Historical notes included.)
