Includes two letters. 1905. Very good strike. cc of the Treasury Department 'Official Business'. Stamp over right hand cc. RK Colcord (former Governor of Nevada) and JS Cain (of Bodie, California) correspondence. Colcord was in charge of the US Mint at this time and includes a large "Mint of the United States at Carson, Nev." letterhead and small "No. 18 Treasury Department" letterhead. Long letter is about exchanging a plate from the Goleta Mine for shoes and dies. The Goleta Mine was six miles NE of Lundy. Small letterhead is for the watchman at the unspecified mill to deliver the shoes and dies to JS Cain. Colcord signs both.
