Four pieces of Carson City Mint history: 1) check from The Bullion and Exchange Bank signed by the Superintendent of the Carson City Mint when it produced its final coin, Theodore R. Hofer. Hofer was forced to resign by Washington after the mint suspended coinage in 1893. This 1894 check is made out to Mrs. Dora Williams, includes the stub from the checkbook and a photo of Mr. Hofer. 2) U.S. Mint Service Form 42 B: Memo Report on Gold/Silver Bullion deposited at the Mint at Carson City the 2nd day of April, 1931. 9 x 5 inches; $1,826.68 net value. 3) Memorandum of Silver Bullion Deposited at the Mint of the United States at Carson, Nevada the 9th day of Sept. 1875 by E. Niles. 11 x 6 inches. 4) Lyon County Times newspaper dated November 22, 1874 with a column one article about a visit to the Carson City Mint, Superintendent Crawford; and W. H. Stevens, Melter and Refiner.
