Lot of 2. Forms are printed in different colors, which is something the US Mint system used to distinguish between gold and silver deposits. 1) Memorandum of Gold Bullion, April 18th, 1887 by Chas. H. Peters (insurance agent in Carson who also invested in Comstock mines). One bar, 74 ounces, .615 fineness gold. Valued at $963.32, paid in gold and silver coin. This was during the production hiatus at the CC mint (1885-89). Signed by Davis for the Supt. Red print. 6 x 11.5" 2) Two pieces attached together. Top piece is a Memorandum of Bullion Deposited for Assay at the Gold Hill Assay Office, 1889, by the Justice Mining Co. Two bars, over 3,500 ounces, .942 silver fineness. Signed by WS James, assayer. Attached to a Silver Bullion Carson City Mint form for deposit of that bullion in Dec. 1889 by Chas. H. Peters. Purple print. 5.5 x 11" This was just at the time when the CC Mint had resumed production (on hiatus from 1885-late 1889).
