Feb, 18th, 1892 letter on official mint letterhead. Message to RP Keating, Supt. of the Savage Mine in Virginia City. LL Elrod tells him that $2,400 of gold coin has been sent by Wells Fargo Express (stage) from Carson to the Nevada Bank of San Francisco in Virginia City. The Savage Mine had sent bullion in to be processed and this was their payment for that bullion. In 1892, the Carson City mint produced two denominations of gold coins: the $5 Liberty Head Half Eagle and the $10 Liberty Head Eagle. The 1892-CC $5 Liberty Head Half Eagle had a mintage of 82,968, while the 1892-CC $10 Liberty Head Eagle had a mintage of 40,000.
