Extremely rare. Pass no. 145, issued to Geo. J. Ainsworth, president of the Redondo Railway. Signed by Ainsworth on reverse. Signed by Henry Yerington as president & general superintendent. Black print on yellow cardstock with red date "1894" in upper right to look like sun with rays. Very clean. Exceptional! The Virginia & Truckee Railroad was the parent company for the C&C, but they sold the line to Southern Pacific in 1900. As the Comstock began to fade in the late 1870s/early 1880s, William Sharon, D.O. Mills, Yerington and others turned their attention to mining in the southern deserts. They conceived of the Carson & Colorado as an affordable and efficient line to exploit those mineral resources.
