An antiquarian statuette made of carved quartz crystal, originating from an unknown location in China. Likely hundreds of years old. The statuette depicts an old man with a long beard and a staff wearing a traditional Chinese 'futou'-style hat. The reverse side of the statuette bears the traditional Chinese characters gong, xi, fa, and cai, which when combined constitute a traditional Lunar New Year greeting wishing prosperity and good fortune. The statuette has been broken into two pieces; it is sold as is. The quartz has an interesting iridescent sheen in some places that may not be visible in photographs. A rare and unique piece from the Chunlin Zhu collection.
