Number 1688 for 300 shares to William Schaun. Signed by Douglas and Pope. 1903. Striking pinkish / purplish color! Printed by the New York Bank Note Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of mountains and an antlered deer.

The 1904 Mines Register states the office is at 66 Broadway in New York. The mine office was in Casa Grande. It was organized on June 14, 1902. F. W. Pope, president; J. Douglass Taitt, secretary; H. H. Douglass, treasurer. The company had 165 acres 26 mile south of Casa Grande. The mine shows the main shaft at 150'. Claims show 15,000 tons of 8% to 12% copper, which is probably overstated ['Mines Register' words not ours]. Company is said to contemplate erection of a water jacket smelter. The report ends with, "This is a Douglass-Lacey promotion, and prospectus is filled with misleading statements!" (Laguna Collection) Date: 1903 Location: Casa Grande, Pinal County, Arizona HWAC# 59495
