This massive lot contains invoices from local stockyards, Chicago stock yards, estray invoices, invoices with cattle brands hand-drawn and rubber-stamp depictions of brand locations on the animal. There are over 70 pages of correspondence with Mr. W. G. Pruitt, Montana Live Stock Commission Secretary. Some correspondences are hand-written and others typed, but always depicting the brand in question. There are over 100 pages of estray invoices, again with hand drawn branding with location on the animals. Over 200 invoices are included from out-of-state stock yards. A set of Annual Stock Commissioners for both Stock and Sheep reports are included for years 1907-08, 1909-1910, 1911-1912. A three-ring binder includes correspondence for a Ralph Wallace of Pony, Montana petitioning the U.S. Gov. for an increase in pension for this Civil War Veteran at age 85 in 1925. A great read. The letters of correspondence with the Stock Commissioners Sec. Mr. Pruitt are great to read when ranchers explain why estray cattle are with their own cattle in mountain open ranges. There is a single page affidavit of a bull named "Linny 11" with his off-spring for this prized bull (#7523) dated 1901.
