Very rare stock certificate, we have never seen this one before. Nice BEP graphics featuring US Capitol, Indians, gold miners, Colonial legends and a sad Indian as he views the industrialization of America in 1876. Issued in 1875, 5 shares of Centennial Board of Finance to Elizabeth R Wagner. We could not find any info on her. Signed by Fred Fraley as Treasurer, 1804-1901, was the 15th president of the American Philosophical Society and Ino. (John) Welsh as President (1805-86). He was a Philadelphia merchant and he success of the Centennial Exhibition was largely a success due to his executive ability and in recognition of which he was presented by the city with a gold medal and $50,000. A fantastic stock deserving of a good frame for display. 19x24" with vertical creases and a few small tears.
