Lot of 3. Two letters and one magazine advertisement. 1) 1881 letter on Central Pacific Railroad Co. letterhead sent to DA Bender, ticket agent for the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. Message says that they want the railroad pass back from Captain Avery, who used to operate the steamer "Niagara" on Lake Tahoe, but has now gone into business in Carson. They now need his pass for Captain Lapham. 2) 1881 letter on Central Pacific Railroad Co. letterhead sent to DA Bender, ticket agent for the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. Message asks when they should discontinue Lake Tahoe Excursion tickets. This was before the railroad had been built from Truckee to Tahoe City, so they are referring to trains going into Truckee (and then stagecoach to Tahoe). 3) July 1895 Overland Monthly ad for the Southern Pacific Railroad Summer Season rates for travel to Lake Tahoe. 10 x 7"
