Lot of 3 pages. Rare. These are "letter copies" on Central Pacific Railroad / Southern Pacific Railroad letterhead. All have staining on the right border. 1 and 2) Dateline San Francisco March 16th, 1877. Message about travel to Arizona via Dos Palmas. Stages will now leave Dos Palmas on alternate days. Sleeping cars will run every other day from Los Angeles to Dos Palmas. Letter from Goodman. Accompanied by schedule page of times from San Fran. to Lathrop, Sleeper from Los Angeles, and Stage from Dos Palmas. Dos Palmas is located in Riverside County, California. For many years, the oasis was a camp and watering spot on a long used trail at the foot of the mountains east of the Salton Sink to the Yuma Crossing and Yuma, Arizona to the southeast. From 1862, it became a camp and watering stop for gold seekers and other travelers along the Bradshaw Trail between San Bernardino and the gold mining boomtown of La Paz, Arizona and later to nearby Ehrenberg that replaced it. A stage stop called Dos Palmas was established there for the Bradshaw and Yuma roads. 3) April 24th, 1877 letter about SPRR trains running to Pilot Knob within 9 miles of Yuma.
