A magnificent 19” by 16” ink line drawing of men building a railroad trestle along a mountainside. In the rear of the drawing is a “2” steam engine inscribed “CPRR”. The lower left of the drawing is signed, “STEPHEN MIRICA/ ©/ 5M/ AM”. Information on the artist is unavailable. This impressive drawing is framed in an ornate 32” by 28” wooden frame with metallic leaf or paint detailing. The railroad indicated in the drawing may be the Central Pacific Railroad formed as part of the Transcontinental Railroad, which was begun in 1863. The name changed to Southern Pacific in 1885, and the whole line is now owned by Union Pacific. This drawing commemorates the construction of the most historic and exciting railroad in the United States—a treasure for any collection.City: County: State: CADate:
