Two common stocks issued in 1864 and 1880 along with a Trustee's Certificate issued in 1889. The 1864 certificate has a side view of Woodruff's Patent Convertible Seat and Coach Car in underprint, and two circular medals left and right of the Pennsylvania State Agricultural Society. T.T. Woodruff was an inventor of the sleeping car. The Central Transportation Company was established in 1862, with Woodruff as the principal stockholder and his brother Jonah (1809-1876) as manager. Woodruff assigned his patents to the new company, as did several other inventors (midcontinent.org). Cert. #103 for 25 shares. Although no cancellation marks, we are going to call this I/C as part of a stub is glued to the left border. The 1880 certificate #7811 was issued for 10 shares. Vignette of a train running right to left going under a bridge. Stamp and pen cancels and stub attached at left. Third certificate is a Trustee's certificate #718, issued for 70 shares in 1889. Not cancelled, but it is stamped that a liquidation dividend was paid as the company was to be dissolved.
