This lot is a production sample of a large, ornate ceremonial mace made by the Medallic Art Company prior to 2016. The nearly 4-foot tall mace has a solid walnut shaft approximately 1.5 inches in diameter with a seven-inch long bronze base of the same diameter. The shaft flares at the top to hold a 10-sided, faceted bronze cylinder with the word "Certificates" engraved on one facet and the initials, "AFA," "AS," "AAS," and "AA" on every-other facet. Atop the faceted cylinder is a stylized transparent acrylic flame rising from a yellow base in which is embedded a 3-inch-diameter antiqued bronze die-struck medallion which has the logo of Carl Sandberg College on both sides. The mace alone weighs nearly 16 pounds. This lot also includes a free-standing walnut display stand that holds the mace in a vertical position. The stand has three spherical bronze feet on the back which allow it to lay on a shelf or table and display the mace horizontally. These items were from unsold material that remained after the liquidation of Northwest Territorial Mint. City: Galesburg State: Illinois Date:
