This is a ceremonial stone or gorget with two perforated holes for cordage. At 5 in./ 127mm X 1.625 in./ 41 mm, is a gray/green slate with polished and rounded corners. The perforations appear to be made with two different drill sizes for a tapered hole. These stones are more frequently found in the Ohio River valley to mid-south region of the United States but occasionally found farther west. This one was found in Coshocton County, Ohio. The real purpose of these stones is unknown to scholars today. From the Bracken collection. Please see photos for details. (ref.
