An 1873 certificate for fifty shares of capital stock in the Boushey Silver Mining Company, made out to Stephen Boushey, the owner of the mine. The Boushey Silver Mining Company mined silver from the famous Cerro Gordo mines of northern California. These mines commenced production in 1866, meaning that the certificate dates from the early years of the operation. Boushey was a contemporary of Belshaw and Beaudry, two American businessmen who first developed mines on the site; Boushey himself played a pivotal role in irrigating the area, allowing for major production. The certificate shows some wear and discoloration consistent with age, but is in overall good condition. It is stamped with the word "INASSESSIBLE" in red ink. [ California
