Gold bearing pyrite disseminated in intrusive. The Cerro San Pedro mine is an exceptionally important mine historically because of early silver deposits found in San Luis Potosi by the Spaniards in the 1500s. Through time, and the evolution of ore deposit geology, a major ore deposit was uncovered as part of a massive porphyry system, somewhat typical of several porphyries around the world - a copper- moly- gold-silver deposit. Today, they report a reserve of 250 million tons.
