2 checks signed by James G. Fair, & 1 signed by John MacKay, from the "Bonanza Firm". MacKay & his partners James Fair, James Flood & William O'Brien grained control of the Consolidated Virginia Mine in 1872. Mr. MacKay was born in Ireland & died in England in 1902. He amassed a fortune in Nevada & part of it was returned to Nevada, when his son Clarence endowed the MacKay School of Mines at the University of Nevada in Reno in honor of his father. Checks signed by James G. Fair, (also known as "Slippery Jim") Mine Superintendent, drawn on The Agency of the Bank of California. Very interesting lot. City: State: Nevada Date: c1800's HWAC# 82052
