Hand drawn scene of the Keowee River, in South Carolina. In the early 18th century, the Cherokee tribe occupied the majority of the towns along the Keowee river. In 1760, there was an Anglo-Cherokee War in which much of the indigenous towns were destroyed. In this drawing, we see the indigenous peoples and settlers interacting, so it is presumed the drawing was done in the 1800s. Drawing in good condition, slight yellowing of the paper, tear in upper corners.16.5 x 13.25 inches. South Carolina
