Nice tight weave in this piece from Chinle. "The Chinle style, developed at Canyon de Chelly, was the inspiration of trader Cozy McSparron, his wife Inja and Boston scholar Mary Cabot Wheelwright." (Toh-Atin Gallery). They worked with weavers and developed a unique style of banded rugs colored with vegetal dyes. The "Chinle" style became a distinct style in the 1920's. This weaving is likely a saddle blanket--excellent condition. 24" x 38".
