Lot of over 60 billheads & letterheads from various communities throughout Chouteau County, MT during early 20th century. Examples: several pieces from The Oasis ("Fine Wines, Liquors and Cigars) of Collins, MT c. 1913; several pieces from Kelly & Barrett, Dodson, MT to Bateman Switzer Co, Great Falls requesting liquor shipments, c. 1908. Many manuscripts are also included in this surprising collection Along with Collins and Dodson, other communities represented include Bellrain (sp?), Square Butte, Highwood, Hingham, Geraldine, Galata, Cutbank, Savoy, Dunkirk, Joplin, Phillips, Kevin, Landusky, and Lothair. Note: Choteau County, located in north central MT, was founded in 1865 as on of the Territory's nine original counties. It is named after Pierre Chouteau, a fur trader who established the trading post that became Fort Benton, now the county seat on the Missouri River.
