Lot of five bonds of the Cincinnati & Chicago Rail-Road Co., all issued in 1855 and signed by Caleb B. Smith as president. Indiana politician rewarded for helping secure Lincoln's nomination in 1860 with position of Secretary of the Interior (1861-1862). U.S. District Court judge 1863-1864 (coxrail.com). These are great signature pieces in nice condition. Bonds are first mortgage, $500, 7%, due 1876. All have coupons and clear signatures.
