Location: Gold Hill District, Storey County, N.T. (printed at upper right, partially covered by 25 cent IR stamp). Incorporated Dec. 11, 1863. No. 50, issued for 5 shares to J.D. Fry on January 16th, 1864. Signed by president W.B. Scott and secretary William Hunt. Not cancelled. Three vignettes: surface mine workings (upper right), allegorical women (bottom left), and small eagle head (bottom). Gold Hill News Print. Folds, some toning, stamp covering pinholes. Not in Filer of Mahler. The Gold Hill News on November 2, 1863 sang the companies praises (article included). Listed in the 1864 Collins Comstock directory, but with A.S. Arrington as secretary. Fry was William Sharon's mentor and was the father of William Ralston's wife. It was he who convinced Ralston to send Sharon to Virginia City to run the branch of the Bank of California. W. B. Scott is listed as a secretary for the North Western and the Satellite mining companies. William Hunt is listed as a stock broker and mining secretary living in American Flat. He even has an advertisement on pg. 346 which states he is the secretary for the Jim McClellan, Orion, Hunt, Braden, West Gold Hill, and Washington at his office in American Flat. He was associated with many more mines! Additional information on the mine Fry, Scott and Hunt is included.
