# 127 for 100 shares to Miss Fremont and Morton. Signed by AJ Hodder president and George B Ellard secretary. Fancy countryside vignette. In 1872, after more than 15 years of inactivity of the Dayton Short Line, the company was reorganized as the Cincinnati Railway Tunnel Company. Some limited work began again, though it stopped in 1874 after little additional progress had been made. There was another cave in near Oak Street hampering efforts to continue the project. The company became dormant again, and sale to other interested parties was hampered by an excessive asking price for the property. Fremont is legendary in the West! He lead the major exploration of the Great Basin. In 1864 he ran against Lincoln for President, but bowed out with some considerations by Lincoln. Three tears on the certificate. Otherwise nice. Printed by American Bank Note of New York and Cincinnati. (W.D. Miles Collection)
