# 717 for 50 shares to PG Merritt. Signed by George Jones and president William HH Taylor. Dateline Cincinnati 1853. Incorporated in 1853. Six vignettes: Native American, portrait, allegorical, train, farming and mining. Danforth Bald printer. Not cancelled. Some staining at folds and edges. Bottom has tears at fold intersections. Good condition. Incorporated "for the purpose of developing the resources of the State of Arkansas." "But as a basis of a calculation the Cincinnati and Little Rock Slate Company can depend upon a solid mass of smooth slate of at least 75 feet in thickness above the bed of the river. Multiply this by the area of the Company's vein which is about 100,000 square feet and we have the immense aggregate of seven million five hundred thousand cubic feet of slate even by quarrying 75 feet deep. Multiply this by 4 and it swells the amount at a depth of 300 feet to thirty million cubic feet of slate.
