Incorporated in Georgia. No. 2163, issued for 100 shares to Benjamin Bateman on August 17th, 1866. Signed by president HG Wheeler and the treasurer (illegible). Not cancelled. Endorsed on the reverse. Ornate design with ship, locomotive, and allegorical vignettes. Printed by Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson, New York. Condition issues: large staining, especially on the left side. Pinholes, folds, creases. 6.5 x 10" Brunswick is located in Glynn County, Georgia. It was abandoned during the Civil War because its citizens were ordered to evacuate. It suffered a post-War depression, as well as traumatic events in the 1890s including a yellow-fever epidemic and multiple deadly hurricanes.
