Indian soldiers served in the Union Army in the Indian Territory. They were in several battles including the attack on Fort Gibson by Quantrill's Raiders and the Battle of Honey Springs. This letter is sent from the headquarters of the brigade at Rock Academy in the Cherokee Nation to Captain Anderson in the field. It is dated one day prior to the announcement that the brigade will muster out at the end of the month, May 31, 1865. Great historical Indian and Civil War piece.
