This signed card is for Confederate Scout Benjamin Franklin Stringfellow. Signed "Frank Stringfellow/Scout/A.N.V./1865". In excellent condition. Stringfellow was a scout in Mosbey's Rangers; he answered to J.E.B Stuart and later directly to Robert E. Lee. By the end of the war he was considered the most dangerous man in the Confederacy. He was active behind enemy lines until a bounty of $10,000 was placed on his head. The card is signed simply as "Frank" Stringfellow...Scout...A.N.W. (Army of Northern Virginia) in "1865". Although Stringfellow frequented the same safehouse as other Confederates-Surratt Tavern, he was not involved in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. His was a staunch pro-slave Southerner and refused to take the oath of loyalty to the Union after the war. 2.25 in. X 4.5 in. A rare find. [ Virginia
