Corporal Arthur Cormican Co. G 21st Regiment US Infantry 1864 1865 . These two books, hand written by Corporal Arthur Cormican from Waupaca, Wisconsin detail his daily life in 1864 and 1865. Handsomely written with great penmanship and clarity. He was mustered-in in Oshkosh, Wi. on 8-21-1862 to Company G of the 21st Regiment Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. He fought three years in the south with Sherman. Joined forces with the Army of the Ohio and the Cumberland. Camped near Lookout Mountain, Tenn. Mustered-out in Washington D.C. on 6-8-1865. The inside cover of the first book 1864 states that if "this book should be found to return it to his father Samuel, in Waupaca, Wi. and you will be rewarded." On the inside cover of the second book: "Returned home 6-22nd, 1865/ Presented (to) By Mother". On Feb. 12th, 1865 he describes marching 7 miles and tearing up the tressell for the Augusta & Charleston RR. Marched 14 miles and found no rebs. Wisconsin
