An attractive 9 x 11 inch discharge paper date May 31, 1865 from Fort Gibson, C. N. (Cherokee Nation). Vignette at top of screaming Eagle with flag and shield and titled: "To All Whom It May Concern" Document states that "Peach Eater" a private of Capt. Budd Gritts, Co. G. Second regiment of the Ind. (ian) Inf. (antry) Home Guards enrolled in 1862 for three years of service and is now being discharged. Document has three military signatures: 1) Col. Wm. S. Phillips of the 3rd Regiment; 2) Captain Budd Gritts of Co. C; 3) Daniel Adams, Paymaster, U.S.A. On the back written in red ink: "This soldier having deserted is not entitled to Bounty under Act June 25, 1866." Included is a type written copy of the document and historical information on Fort Gibson.
