This clothing roster is for Company I , 12th Connecticut Heavy Artillery dated (illegible) 9th, 1864 received by Captain John H. Burton. There are 61 signatures from this unit to receive coats, socks,
boots, flannel shirts, blankets, and bootees. All recipients had to sign for their clothing allotments, there are no X's as signatures on this document. All had to be witnessed by N.F. Stroughton Master Sargent. The document is 18 in. X 23in. with folds, repaired with archival tape, and rough corner. This regiment defended Washington DC in 1862; fought at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg, returned to Washington in 1864.
