This is a cavalry sword model 1860 marked "U.S." over "A" (Ames? not visible) on the ricasso right side with the S/N " 1360" . The rear of the guard is marked "U.C.I. 98". The left ricasso is stamped and spot drilled, purpose unknown, possibly retired inventory. Good condition with the black leather wrap in fair to good condition 43 in. overall length. Guard and pommel is of cast brass. Scabbard in very good condition. Leather tassel on guard. Please see photos for details.
