This beautiful Civil War sword is marked "Emerson & Silver Trenton, N.J." on the racosso on one side and "US DFM 1865" on the other side. "DFM" was the initials for Dexter F. Mosman an inspector for the US Army Ordinance Dept. The sword is 38 in. overall length, with a 6 in. hilt. The hilt is cast brass in a wire wrap design and the guard is also cast brass. The guard is stamped DFM as well. The blade is 32 in. in length with a fuller the full length of the blade which gives a T shape to the blade. The blade has an oxidized patination consistent with its age. There is no scabbard. Date: Location: HWAC# 56264
