This is a signed letter from a nurse at the Seminary Hospital in Washington D.C. 1864; signed J.M. Hurlbut (male gender) to a nun Sister Angie. The nurse describes caring for Union soldiers and expecting Rebel soldiers soon but has no intentions of caring for them. "And we have enough to eat much as it is. When we get hungry we take a piece of bread and go to some fellow that is wounded pretty bad and just sop in his wound." Here he is dealing with stress (sarcastically) and clearly losing his appetite. Four pages folded good condition light but readable ink. 4.5 in. X 7in. [ Washington, D.C.
